Choosing the Right Ortho Location

When mapping out your orthodontic career, choosing where to plant roots is the first and most crucial step. Here's a quick look at why choosing the right ortho location can make all the difference for orthodontists.

When mapping out your orthodontic career, choosing where to plant roots is the first and most crucial step. While orthodontia is rising nationwide, the highest growth potential lies outside crowded metro markets. Rural and suburban areas, especially in Texas, offer wide-open opportunities for orthodontists looking to build a fulfilling and thriving career. Here’s a quick look at why choosing the right ortho location can make all the difference for orthodontists.

Why Rural and Suburban Markets Are on the Rise

  • Urban markets are saturated.

Metro areas often have too many providers, making it challenging for new orthodontists to stand out or build a reliable patient base.

  • Suburban and rural areas are underserved.

Many communities outside city centers lack local orthodontists, creating an untapped patient pool ready for care.

  • Access to dental insurance is increasing.

More rural patients now have dental benefits, leading to increased general dental visits and more orthodontic referrals.

  • Social media is increasing awareness.

Thanks to marketing and online aligner brands, patients everywhere are more aware of the benefits of orthodontics.

Technology Expands Access and Opportunity

  • Remote monitoring tools are game-changers.

Platforms like Dental Monitoring reduce the number of in-person visits, making rural care more accessible.

  • Aligner and hybrid therapy = flexibility.

These treatments cater to busy or remote patients, broadening your reach as an orthodontist.

Texas: A Hotspot for Ortho Growth

  • Faster-than-average job growth

Ortho opportunities in Texas are growing rapidly, especially in less populated areas.

  • High salaries, low cost of living.

Competitive pay and affordable living make Texas attractive for career growth and stability.

  • Massive untapped rural markets.

As families move outside metro hubs, demand for local orthodontists continues to rise.
